The Song Of Achilles. Madeline Miller
This book is absolutely beautiful !!
I read it so slowly because I never wanted it to end. The plot of The Song of Achilles revolves around the great Trojan war and the moments before and after Patroclus meets and falls in love with Achilles and then awaits him.
I think I never cried that much for a book before. The story counts mostly the romance between Achilles and Patroclus, and we all know the tragic story of Achilles during the Trojan war. But still, it remains dreadful while reading. The events are just getting sadder and sadder throughout the story;
the main theme of this novel is the power of love, the novel shows how love is able to overcome vast obstacles, including death. There are multiple themes like pride and violence for example which are shown through the actions of both the protagonists. They remain children, a quick reminder: the story happens when they're around thirteen while they discover themselves as well as their sexuality.
In conclusion, this book portrays quite well the love story of Achilles and Patroclus but it remains a work of fiction, there are some events happening in the book that may or may not be true, yet, I still find myself crying every time I read it because of how beautifully it is written.
